SCID
Genetic Condition: SCID Inherited: Recessive Breeds Affected: Arabians Symptoms: Foals with SCID are highly susceptible to infections. The foal looks normal when it is born because it is receiving antibodies from the mother's colostrum. By 6-8weeks of age they will develop infections that their immune system cannot fight and they will usually die by the time they are approx. 5 months of age. Treatment: There is no treatment. We have many SCID results in our database - if you are wondering about a pedigree PM us with your questions.
